We're home!!!

We are finally home! We got to come home on Thursday and we couldn't be happier. It was a bitter sweet day when they said we were able to come home. We were so excited but scared to death. They sent Crue home without a shunt which made us really nervous. We were told to watch for signs of him needing one. The signs we need to watch for are if he is inconsolably crying or not eating, or excessively throwing up. We also need to keep an eye on his soft spot, if it becomes hard or bulges out we need to take him in immediately. This is what made us so nervous...we were told that he will need a shunt soon, but as of right now he seems to be doing fine. The fluid in his ventricles is on the high side but they want to wait until he shows sign of needing a shunt. They said the longer he can go and the more he can grow the better. They want him to be as strong as he possibly can be before going in for surgery. We hope and pray that when the time comes for a shunt that he will be strong and everything will go perfectly! We are so grateful for this amazing little boy, he has already changed our lives so much.

Scares are beautiful!

Here is our poor little guys incision. The incision is a lot longer then the opening actually was but they had to cut more in order to make it straight and get it closed. They say that it looks great and he is recovering very well. He is off the ventilators and breathing in his own. They also took him off the antibiotic and they say he is doing awesome! He is such a strong little guy and we pray that he will continue to be. We just wanted to say thank you for all your love and support. We are truly grateful.

Bath time!

Tonight we were able to give Crue his first bath!! It was a little hard to get him clean because of all the wires he has on him, but we loved every minute of it! After we were done bathing him we were able to hold him for quit a while. It was amazing to be able to spend some time as a whole family. He is so perfect!! Here are a few pictures after he had his bath.

Our first family picture...sorry it's so blurry, one of the nurses took it!!

He's here!!!

Baby Crue is finally here! He was born on Wednesday July 18th @ 11:27 am. He weighed 7 lbs 11 oz, and he has a ton of black hair. Joe and I arrived at the hospital at 8:30 am and I was prepped and taken down to the OR at about 10:45 for my C section. I was so nervous going into to the OR by myself but all the doctors there were awesome. Joe came in shortly after I had my spinal done and about 15 to 20 min later baby Crue was born!! I didn't get to see him at all but I heard him cry as they passed him over to the NICU. Hearing him cry was the most amazing sound in the world. After I was all stitched up and back in my room they brought Crue in for me to see before he was sent to primary children's. I only got to see him for literally 2 minutes and touch his little hand before he was whisked away. After about an hour of being out of surgery I got really sick, I was throwing up all night from about noon until 3 am...it was horrible. Throwing up with an incision sucked, every time I threw up it felt like my insides were going to bust out. I didn't get to see Crue until the next day when I got feeling better. Getting to see him and hold him was AMAZING! He has to stay on his stomach so I had to hold him on a pillow but that was better than nothing. He is absolutely perfect in every way! He is doing very well. He is breathing and sucking on his own, and they did another echo cardiogram to check his heart and they said his heart is strong and healthy. It was such a relief to hear that, we were so worried about his heart. They also did a CT scan to check his ventricles and as of right now there is no need for a shunt, but that will most likely change after his back is closed. He went in for is back closure today at about 5:30 pm. The surgery only lasted about 2 hours, and they said everything went great. They said his lesion is at about L1 L2 and they said they can see hip movement and they think he has some feeling in his upper thigh. His level of movement can always change after surgery so we will see how much he has after he wakes up. A lot of things as of right now are just a wait and see, but he is beautiful and perfect and we are so in love with him it's crazy!! Easton has literally been beaming ever since Crue was born. He is loving being a big brother, and I know he is going to be an awesome one! Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure...Sorry for the crazy post, i feel like my mind is going a million miles an hour right now!

Below are some pictures of baby Crue after getting out of surgery.

I love his little jellybean feet!!

P.S. I totally won the bet on his weight!! I was only 1 oz off! I'm awesome, I know!!
